Poor Arsenal

17 Dec

After got humiliated by Barcelona last season, Arsenal look set and destined to crash out of Champions League again this season, and by the same opponent, Barcelona!

Call it bad luck, call it anything, but Arsenal has only themselves to blame for only qualifying as group’s runner up, which resulted in this draw. Barcelona can’t be in any better form at the moment, after thrashing Real Madrid 5-0 (!), while Arsenal are inconsistent in Premier League, though they’re currently sitting at number two in the table.

The odds are of course against Arsenal here. And Cesc Fabregas will surely consider his future if he’s to witness his team got taught how to play beautiful football by Barcelona, the team he’s expected to move to in the future, again.

I personally will cheer for Arsenal. I think Barcelona NEED to lose to make football still interesting to watch. Right now, it’s like every team who must face Barcelona are destined to lose. So I really hope Arsenal can prove everyone in the world wrong by knocking out Barcelona of Champions League. It doesn’t have to be by actually beating Barcelona though. 0-0 in Emirates and 1-1 in Nou Camp is more than enough.

Elsewhere, Manchester United and Chelsea had a relatively easy draw, while Jose Mourinho must prove he is the special one by beating Lyon, the team who eliminated Real Madrid.
